According to Palliyaguruge who holds a degree in Cinema from the Asian Academy of Film and TV India and Diplomas in Fine Arts and Mass Media as well as Film Making from the New York Film Academy USA coins the genre of this film as “Jollywood’, stating that it incorporates all emotions and senses known to the human mind and spirit. “With cricket being Sri Lanka’s national pastime, Super Six revolves around a group of youth from Moratuwa participating in the Super Sixes, a six a side tournament,” he said at the launch of the movie at a gala event held at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. “There are unpredictable perils of fate and destiny that are intertwined in each of these young people’s lives while they strive to achieve their dreams on the singular platform of the cricket pitch. But the rivalry between the teams spillover into their off-the-pitch lives although the ultimate lessons are the values they learn from each other in this ‘Super Sixes’ tournament.”

The movie was shot in iconic locations like Nuwara Eliya, Colombo and Galle. The heart has its reasons, said the French philosopher Pascal, quoted by the American philosopher Woody Allen. It is a useful insight when no other reasons seem apparent. Connie Sumner's heart and other organs have their reasons for straying outside a happy marriage in "Unfaithful,'' but the movie doesn't say what they are. This is not necessarily a bad thing, sparing us tortured Freudian explanations and labored plot points. It is almost always more interesting to observe behavior than to listen to reasons.

The ghost is surely the most overused element in current-day Tamil cinema. So much so that it might soon have a fan club. In director Vijay’s Devi, we have a ghost that can actually sign a contract. Yes, that’s what it has come to. Thankfully, that is among the least of the laughable sequences in this Prabhu Deva-Tamannaah starrer. Devi works as an engaging horror film, save for the overdose of dance and frolic that takes away the thrills.

The story is largely based in Mumbai (Devi is being promoted as a trilingual) but things in the first half get going in a village near Coimbatore. We get to know Krishna (Prabhu Deva), who is desperately searching for a ‘modern girl’ (“English grammar lam seriya pesanum”).

Because Rahaan (Gaurav Arora) and his pretty wife Shaina (Kriti Kharbanda), and a shadowy blast from her past Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) spend all their time talking thusly: ‘kuch toh raaz hai’, ‘kya raaz hai’, ‘kahin toh raaz chhupa hai’, ‘yeh raaz hamein alag kar dega’, over and anon, till this purported ‘raaz’ starts coming out of our ears, but refuses to come in front of our eyes.
